![]() ![]() Located in the historic Herron-Morton Place neighborhood in downtown Indianapolis, Footlite Musicals brings the best of Broadway musical theatre to Indy. Plays are a mix of classics and originals. In Fall theatre (October), the Site's resident playwright constructs a progressive performance that has guests wandering through the home for a theatre experience that is equal parts historically rich, humorous, and of course just a little creepy. For Spring theatre (April-May), audience members rotate through three rooms of the historic mansion, viewing three one-act plays presented salon-style. Guests are ensconced in an opulent setting of original artifacts while enjoying multiple genres of theatre, all performed by a resident acting troupe at this National Historic Landmark. A judicial panel of judges evaluated applications based on three areas: community impact, artistic merit and organizational ability. The city says grant funds range from $2,000 to $75,000.Īccording to the city, last year the program implemented new scoring criteria regarding racial and socioeconomic equality. The funding, which is part of the city’s annual grant program, will support the programming and general operation of non-profit arts and culture organizations serving Indianapolis and Marion County.
